Suicide Pact #3

I have entered in a third suicide pact with Coyote. Sadly, suicide pacts are the only things that seem to motivate me past my inherent laziness and lack of confidence.

It's a deadly combination.

I must produce a second draft of one of my short stories by May 1. Unfortunately, I have only one first draft, so that's all I can work with. I've been hiding from finishing this thing for nearly a year now. Shit.

I also must produce a new first draft by June 1. That'll be slightly easier, considering it doesn't have to be any good.

Damn it all. Why do I do this to myself?

On the plus side, I get to read some new stuff by Coyote.

Yeah, you all are a bunch of lazy bastards. You need to be more awesome, like...um...me?

*rests on his laurels*

Wow these are some comfy laurels.

You and your disciplined not needing deadlines and stuff to make progress on your awesome story self. You... you... make me feel funny in my No Zone.

Wait.. you have a No Zone?

Actually, Pebbleman is coming close to what one could call "done".

(aka, I can't make it less putrid and I'm giving up)

Which leaves me with no story to work on. I have an idea for one but it would require me to do research. Since I do research for a living, doing research for fun isn't my idea of...fun.

Or I could turn my energies towards trying to publish Pebble...man...HAHAHAHAHA. Almost made it all the way through that with a straight face.

Blue: You're right, of course. More completely, it's my No [Don't Stop] Zone.

fett: Pebbleman begs to be published. You just have to find the right place. I am prepared to browbeat your mercilessly until you start sending it to places for publishing.

Hey, you give me places to send it, I'll send it. I can handle the rejection. My life is a symphony of rejection. Wait, no, my life is a symphony of regret. It's an opera of rejection. Perhaps an etude. Or at least an opus.

Coyote's your guy for where to send it. If any of us will know the right place and the right process, it's him.

I feel a smack coming on.

When you all get published all I ask is that you send me a signed copy of your books. I want my kids to have proof that I knew famous people.
